Buffer and Drainage Technician

This position will coordinate the County Buffer initiative, act as the buffer law enforcement for the county, report projects and activities according to BWSR guidelines and assist the County Public Drainage Manager in the drainage system management.

Candidates must possess the ability to work varying (seasonal) hours on an “as needed” basis, meet with landowners, read, write, and speak effectively in public, work independently, explain buffer laws, policies and regulations and use computers and programs to complete duties.

An AA Degree with specialized education, 2 – 3 years related experience or training leading to proficiency in field survey, report preparation, public speaking, agricultural drainage system functions required while a Bachelor’s Degree in an Agricultural or Natural Resource Science or related field is preferred.  Knowledge and experience of agriculture, buffer, drainage, hydrology, storm water management, soils, and construction is helpful.

PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHER

The Public Safety Dispatcher operates the Kandiyohi County 9-1-1 emergency phone system, computer aided dispatch/records system, and sophisticated radio/telephone network in providing assistance to field personnel, other agencies, and the public. Must be able to exercise rational judgment and work both independently and in a team. Related post-secondary education and dispatch experience preferred. Must pass practical dispatcher test, oral interview, thorough background investigation, and psychological examination. Credit may be offered for prior dispatch experience and/or CJIS Certification. Full-time position with benefits; rotating shifts, holidays and weekends required.

Facility Operator I

Public Works Department/Green Lake Sanitary Sewer and Water District

 Responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of all GLSSWD facilities including water supply, storage, distribution and treatment facilities and wastewater collection and treatment facilities. This position, as directed, requires an approximate, once a month 8-day shift through a weekend and associated holidays with 24 hour a day on call status. This position also requires a twenty-minute response time to the GLSSWD Wastewater Treatment Facility while on call. High School Diploma or GED and two years experience operating, maintaining and repairing water and wastewater treatment facilities or High School Diploma and one year college or technical training in water/wastewater field or other equivalent experience. MDH Class D Water Operators License and MPCA Class D Wastewater Operator License preferred, but not required. Valid driver’s license with ability to obtain Class “A” CDL within six months of hiring date.  Also ability to obtain special engineer boiler license within six months of hiring date. ASSISTANT COUNTY ATTORNEY

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR – HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE


Kandiyohi County Public Works is currently seeking an Equipment Operator.  This skilled-labor position will be responsible for operation of several types of large, medium and heavy equipment involved in the maintenance and/or construction of County roads, ditches facilities, properties, projects and right-of-ways to ensure the safety of the general public.  Maintain equipment as well as other duties as assigned. Minimum requirements include a minimum of two years of experience in equipment operation and/or maintenance, and possession of a Class A Commercial Drivers License.  Base pay is $17.42/hr.
