 Lake Wakanda is a shallow lake located approximately three miles southeast of the city of Willmar. It lies within a chain of lakes including Little Kandiyohi, Kasota,  Minnetaga and Swan, and Big Kandiyohi, which form the headwaters of the South Fork of the Crow River.

 The "Cooperative Enhancement Plan for Lake Wakanda" approved in 2015 that was created collaboratively with residents, the public at large and cooperating agencies: Kandiyohi County, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources, local Soil and Water Conservation District, Crow River Organization of Water, Wakanda and Big Kandiyohi Lake Assoc., Blomkest Sportsmen’s Club and Ducks Unlimited.

The Legislative Coordinating Commission (LCC) serves as the umbrella organization for legislative commissions, joint agencies, and other boards. The President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House alternate biennially as chair. The Legislative Coordinating Commission (LCC) establishes the complement and the compensation of employees for joint agencies and commissions. All joint agency budgets are reviewed and approved by the commission. The commission coordinates certain activities of the House and Senate including the setting of insurance benefits.
