The following training is required for licensed family child care providers in Kandiyohi County. All licensed family child care providers need sixteen hours of training each year.
  - CPR and First Aid Courses (every two years)
  - Child Passenger Restraining System Training (every 5 years)
  - Sudden Unexpected Infant Death Syndrome (SUIDS) (annually)
  - Abusive Head Trauma (AHT) (annually)
  - Supervision and Safety (two hours annually)
  - Child Growth and Development/Behavior Guidance (every year)
  - Swimming Pool Certification (optional for pool owners only)
